Cylob Music Video
I was asked by the head honcho of Power Vacuum Record Label, Milo Smee, to create a music video for one of his artists releasing his first track since 2004 – I found out it was for Cylob, who also has releases on Rephlex, Aphex Twins’ label so I jumped at the chance.
Turns out that Cylob liked the work I produced on Spyworld, so he asked if i would produce a video from his latest album. I chose Zattrday.
Please see below for both videos.
Cylob - Spyworld
As this was the first video produced for Cylob, I wanted to look at recreating a modern electronic version of the Voight Kampff Test, using point cloud re-creation as the style for the interrogated item. Focusing on eyes, drew back to the artists name ‘Cylob’, and movements and spasms from the eye leant itself well once edited to the tracks fidgety nature.
Cylob - Zatturday
I decided to look at this idea of ‘Inflatable hope’ as the LP is titled. Using a nod to Aphex Twins Blimp he used to advertise his return, I focused on a zeppelin trapped in a digital world, as its the ‘Inflatable’ mechanism.
The idea of ‘Hope’, is it being tethered down, with the desire to be free like its peer zeppelins, giving it a personality.
Screens behind where it is tethered down, display visions of a sky that it can only dream to be with. Taunting its aspirations of floating high in the sky!
